Frequently Asked Questions

What is assisted living?

An Assisted Living Residence is defined by the Assisted Living Federation of America as a special combination of housing, personalized supportive services and health care designed to meet the needs, both scheduled and unscheduled, of those who need help with activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, eating and monitoring medications.  Assisted living facilities vary greatly from one to the next, so be sure to shop around for what best fits your needs now and in the future.

Who needs assisted living?

Assisted Living is generally appropriate for anyone whose safety; security, comfort or future well-being is compromised by staying where they are, but who does not require the more intensive services offered in a nursing home.  This includes, but is not limited to, people who: are feeling uncomfortable living on their own, have a poor appetite, have trouble with medications (taking, not taking, overmedicating, not taking at appropriate times, etc.), have increased forgetfulness, are dependent on an outside source for day-to-day needs, lack socialization opportunities, cannot keep up with general housekeeping or maintenance, need transportation or may need help with bathing or hygiene.

Ridgeway includes services to meet all of the above needs plus assistance with dressing, bed making, regular visits by nursing staff, reminders and redirection as needed, and help getting to and from meals and activities if needed.

Who pays for Ridgeway?

Anyone has the opportunity to live at Ridgeway.  We accept private pay, financial assistance and long-term care insurance as methods of payment to live at Ridgeway.  If desiring to use long-term care insurance, please be sure that your policy covers our type of facility.

Typically, assisted living is 1/3 to 1/2 as expensive as a nursing home.  If you would like to learn more about whether you qualify for financial assistance, contact your county family services agency.

What distinguishes Ridgeway from other Assisted Living Communities?

With over 5 years of experience in assisted living, Ridgeway has established itself on offering the premier assisted living communities in the area.  All of Ridgeway’s high quality services are included in your monthly rental rate; there are no buy-ins or additional fees per service (in most situations).  You or your loved one deserves to have experienced staff providing health support and daily assistance.

How do I reserve an apartment?

Ridgeway accepts an application and fully refundable reservation deposit to hold the apartment of your choice. Should your plans change for any reason, we will gladly refund your deposit.  Should you move in, your deposit will be applied to your first month’s rent.  Please contact us for an application.

May I furnish and decorate my own apartment?

Yes.  Residents furnish their own apartments to reflect their own personal taste. Your treasured keepsakes and memories are all you need to make Ridgeway your new home.

Are guests welcome at Ridgeway?

Absolutely.  Your family and friends are always a welcome part of our active community.  Guests may dine with us for a nominal fee.  Ridgeway also offers a comfortable guest suite at Ridgeway on 23rd, which is available at an affordable rate.

Ridgeway’s spacious Community Rooms are the perfect setting for special occasions, family gatherings, or hosting your club or service organization.  See Director or Activities Director for reservations.

Are pets allowed?

We recognize that your pet is an important part of your family.  We do welcome visiting pets, but only working animals or those necessary for medical reasons are allowed to live at Ridgeway.
